29th May 2006

World number 2 and second seed Kim Clijsters goes through to the second round of the French Open tournament. She played Virginie Razzano and took the first with real ease 6-0 , Virginie Razzano started to play well in the second set forcing Kim Clijsters to a tie breaker that was won by Kim with 7-4.

Clijsters holds good memories of Roland Garros being a runner up in 2001 and 2004.

“At the beginning I was allowed to step in but in the second set she started to play aggressive tennis and I was making too many unforced errors,” said Clijsters.

Razzano overcame a rocky start losing 6-0 in only just 22 minutes but then reinvented herself in the second set forcing it to a tie breaker. She did not prevail and Clijsters won it 7-4.
