Maria Sharapova beat Kim Clijsters at the Acura Classic in two sets, to win her second title of the year. It was Sharapova’s first win over Clijsters in five meetings.

The first set started with Sharapova holding serve. The next four games went the returner. Kim then hleld serve making it 3-3. Maria won the next two games but Clijsters won the next two games to even the score. The number two seed then held serve and broke the number one seed to take the set 7-5.

The second set started with the first games eleven on serve after 7 breaks of service in the first set. Sharapova got the only break to win the set and match 7-5 7-5.

“I hung in there during some amazing points in the second set,” said Sharapoca “I had lost to her four times in a row, so I thought this might be my lucky day. It’s amazing to get the title.”

Maria will play in the JPMorgan Chase Open next week.
